First off I love the vampire chronicles. I love everything about the Lestat and Louis, and most of the other vampires in the series. However this book is not what I expected. This is more like a science-fiction movie gone bad.

I totally love Anne Rice’s Gothic writing style, which is nonexistent in this book.

This poor excuse for a novel abandons vampires for a bizarre detour into ancient beings, alien origins, and Atlantis mythology that never feels connected to what made the series great. Anne Rice spent about 75 pages describing this planet, which I found utterly ridiculous and totally boring. I have no idea how I managed to finish this trife.

Definitely my most boring read of the year.

If you are a true vampire chronicles fan, please head warning and stay away from this book, unless you are a glutton for punishment.
